Dear users and authors,
do wire dress forms offer any advantages over standard dress forms?

They are usually decorative items and much more affordable than a real mannequin.

Aren’t they less suitable for developing and refining new designs than proper dress forms?

Well, for starters, it’s hard to stick pins into them, so you can’t really secure anything properly. And of course, because of the holes, the clothes don’t drape the same way.

But wire mannequins definitely look nice, and they work just as well for displaying scarves and similar items. It’s really just a matter of taste! :)

I once had one of those *Olga* ones ;-) It actually served me quite well, but eventually it wore out and unfortunately had to be disposed of. I put a stretchy dress over it, which made pinning work quite well

Best regards, Inge

So you always give your dress forms names?

Well, my daughter and I gave these mannequins names; my daughter’s is Emma :-) and mine was Olga :-) A good acquaintance named hers Klothilde, and back then I just had to grin when I heard it

Best regards, Inge

Mine’s named Layla :D
But after the 2022 summer hit, I’m thinking about renaming her, since I get that annoying earworm every time :D

Mine’s named Else 😂
But I’ve already been thinking about getting a real dress form that’s my size, since Else wears a size 36/38 and has much shorter arms. Her shoe size is 34. Only kids’ shoes and socks fit her.
