Leftover Yarn

Dear users, dear authors,
do you distinguish between really small leftover yarn amounts, up to half a ball of yarn, and whole leftover balls that were left over from a project?

For me, leftover yarn is anything less than one ball. Whole leftover balls are “stock.”

I define it the same way Ruth does.
So the balls I made from the leftover yarn of my giant skein (4,000 m) count as leftover yarn.

Yes, I see it the same way—any partially used ball is leftover yarn. However, I sometimes count a whole ball as leftover yarn too if it’s left over from a project and isn’t a very neutral color. So not a ball of Catania in black or white or something like that—you can always incorporate that into other projects—but if I were to crochet a sweater out of bright green and purple striped glitter yarn and end up with 50 g left over with the label still on it, then that’s also a leftover.
