Cotton yarn for dishcloths

I'm curious and wanted to know where you buy your cotton yarn.

For dishcloths, I usually use Schachenmayr’s Organic Cotton. It’s available at Coop City (I live in Switzerland), which is where I usually buy it. Unfortunately, they only have a very limited selection of colors there, so every now and then I have to order online.

How do you handle that?

I always check whether there’s anything affordable at KIK or Tedox; Aldi and other stores often have cotton yarn on sale too, and I knit it into dishcloths. But at the moment I have a good selection and don’t need to restock.

I have the factory outlets for Schachenmayr and Schöller & Stahl right on my doorstep. So I buy whatever’s on the shelves there—and unfortunately, often way too much.

I prefer to use Drops’ recycled cotton for this. It’s worked out really well and retains its color even after many washes. I just noticed that my son uses his a lot, and they still look brand new.

Since I’m ordering two bigger items from Amazon next month anyway, I’ve decided to go with the organic cotton.
