Cotton Chenille Yarn

Hello!
I’d like to crochet a ray-shaped pillow. Since I don’t like synthetic yarns, I’d like to use cotton chenille. The yarn manufacturer told me, however, that this yarn absorbs a lot of water when washed, which makes it heavier and might cause it to lose its shape.
Has anyone else had this experience?
I hope you can help me!

I knitted a poncho sweater out of cotton chenille (“NERISSA” by Louisa Harding). Even after washing it several times, it still looks just like it did at the beginning. Since crochet stitches are even tighter than knitted ones, I don’t think there will be any problems.
