My August was great. We took a week off and enjoyed spending lots of time at the lake. August was a dreamy summer month.
I’ve discovered tapestry crochet for myself and am trying out different motifs. Most of the time, I’ve been crocheting letters and numbers for fall and Christmas decorations. These little projects fit nicely in my backpack, so I always had a crochet project with me—and, of course, a book.
August was a really wonderful month for me, too. We had a bountiful raspberry harvest, and everything else grew very well as well. We were even able to harvest some small nectarines.
The weather was fantastic, so I was able to spend a lot of time in the garden.
It was hot. Way too hot for me,
so I started English paper piecing again; my granddaughter showed interest in that kind of patchwork. It’s not finished yet—my hands desperately need a break from hand-sewing the hexagons. Besides, Johanna isn’t here right now anyway; she’s on vacation with her parents on Sylt and won’t be back until two days before the school break in Bavaria ends.
For the past few days, I’ve been knitting on my “soul warmer” again. Now that it’s not so crazy hot anymore, I can get back to it. Let’s see what September has in store for me in terms of crafts—one thing I already know: I still have to make a birthday present for my godmother; she’s turning 86. I have a few ideas in mind—we’ll see what I end up making.
Yeah, August was pretty warm, but I still managed to finish the cat blanket. And now the first Halloween decoration is done, too—I’ve started on a pillow. Things are going well.
It’s hot out there! But we’ve been able to harvest—and are still harvesting—lots of delicious tomatoes, and when it gets too unbearable outside, I sit down in the cool living room and crochet.
