Hello everyone,
To celebrate the birth of our youngest granddaughter, we gave the young family a
playhouse
for the siblings. It was recently set up and inaugurated. I noticed that the sun was shining into the sandbox (which is closed in the picture) the whole time. So, I started by sewing a sunshade—or rather, a shade cover—for one side.
I cut out lots of squares from my
cotton fabric scraps
using a template and then sewed them together. I also had to do a lot of ironing. But I didn’t make sure the squares matched up perfectly. The grandchildren don’t care, and I wouldn’t have been able to get it right anyway. The important thing was that the end result was a large rectangle measuring 1.77 x 1.15 m.
At the top, I sewed on a wide elastic band, and at the bottom, I threaded an elastic through a tunnel. I sewed all four ends of the elastic securely in place so they wouldn’t slip inward when removing the sunshade. I’m quite happy with my creation, and the family liked it.
Now my grandson wants even more colorful curtains for the other two sides. But I won’t be making the second side this way. It’s a bit longer, so it’ll need a proper curtain that can be pulled open and closed.
Best regards, Ina
