Tie-Dye as a Summer Trend

Dear users, dear authors,
Women’s magazines say that tie-dye is always a good idea as a summer trend. Do you like tie-dye on dresses, shirts, etc.? Do you do it yourself, or do you prefer to buy ready-made tie-dye clothing?

If it’s tone-on-tone batik, it’s still okay, but I really don’t like that garishly colorful batik—we’ve seen it all before, and with so many old/new fads these days, I really wonder if it’s necessary. But okay, we’ve basically seen it all when it comes to fashion, so old things have to be *reinvented and relaunched*

I do really like certain batik patterns. But I don’t think I’ve ever tried making them myself.

I actually prefer printed batik-style fabrics, especially since I like bold and dark colors. The only real batik pieces I’m familiar with are those in base tones ranging from white to pastel, plus a bit of light, colorful accents.
I have a store-bought T-shirt and a long-sleeve shirt I sewed myself from digitally printed fabric—I like wearing both of them. Both have that fairly uniform, slightly washed-out tie-dye look—one in gray and black, the other in a bold turquoise-green with darker shades of green.

I like batik. I remember that there were classes for it even when I was a kid—in youth group.

I’ve never done batik myself, but I’ve had T-shirts like that before. You often see dresses in this style, too—I really like them. 

Back in the day, we used to do batik at school; everyone ended up with similar shirts that were tie-dyed using the knot technique. I still really like it today, but I haven’t seen anything in batik in ages—I’ll definitely have to check it out again. I prefer tone-on-tone the most, but sometimes I’m also in the mood for rainbow colors.

I don’t like batik at all. Yes, it used to be trendy and everyone tried it—including me, of course. But I just don’t like the batik look. It always looks like it’s been splattered on, even when it has some structure to it.

But good for everyone who loves it. Luckily, tastes differ. I didn’t like it back then, so it doesn’t appeal to me today either. Trend or no trend.
