Yarn Supply: Do you have enough yarn?

how’s your yarn supply?

Define “enough”! :-))))
Do you ever really have enough? Well, I always keep a certain amount of yarn on hand—for a few planned projects and just in case something pops into my head on the spur of the moment.
And then I discover something I’d love to make, but I don’t have any yarn for it at the moment. And of course, I don’t feel like working through everything else first either....

Yeah, I always think I don’t have the right yarn at home, too.

But my stats say I have 188 different types of yarn at home. So that’s definitely enough to bring a few ideas to life.

Unfortunately, my yarn is getting really neglected right now. Everything in the garden is going wild, and I spend most of the afternoon pruning, weeding, and planting. 

For my book project: yes.

For another project, I still need to get some yarn.

The order arrived yesterday… I ordered the yarn about 1.5 years ago… it wasn’t available until now!… amazing… now I don’t even remember what I wanted to make with it anymore… ;)

That happens to me every now and then, too—I forget what I wanted to do with this or that skein of yarn, and the same goes for fabrics, which often sit around here even longer.
So I’ve since gotten myself a notebook where I jot down all my plans; it helps immensely. Even if sometimes I can’t even remember why I had planned this or that in the first place.

No, I don’t have that many. I have all the yarn I need for about 6 or 7 projects, plus a few leftovers or single skeins for little things, so maybe 15 different yarns in total, 20 at most.

Did the sheep have to grow some more before it could provide wool, Petra?

I really did check again. There are 188, though I have multiple colors of some of the yarns. But that’s still a lot. I definitely need to cut back on that—and not let it get out of hand...

Oh dear, I don’t have quite that much. But it’s definitely A LOT! It’s stashed away in lots of closets and drawers, so it doesn’t stand out too much. But I could fill at least one large closet with it.

I often find myself missing a specific type of yarn, too. Then I put the project on hold or come up with something for my stash.

Enough... well, I’d definitely need at least one more lifetime to knit it all. Sometimes I just need a skein of yarn for my soul, simply because it’s so beautifully dyed 😍
  I have no idea if I could ever write down exactly what I have, of what kind, and where it’s all stashed away....
Anyway, the traveling yarn swap package is coming my way in the next few days, along with a little package of hand-dyed yarn “for the soul”.... 

I’ve also started the Project Planner, but I can tell you, I’m at 188. I really love collecting the kinds of things nobody else wants anymore… and that’s why I have an insane amount of little scraps that I really need to make something out of, so… I’m sure I can beat that, even though it doesn’t really matter, of course :)

I'm participating in a contest. Whoever has the most wool after I die wins.

I have enough yarn. For now, anyway. 

I still have a few odds and ends left.
