A feather-light, crocheted mohair shawl!

I’ve been looking for the pattern for this crocheted shawl for quite some time now—I got it from a craft store in Innsbruck many years ago. The store is no longer in business, and I can’t find anyone who remembers it.
I think you started in the center with a chain-stitch ring, then crocheted in rounds, working 2 or 3 sets of 5 chain stitches at each corner, forming arcs. There were always 5 chain stitches, and then you inserted the hook into the middle of the 5 chain stitches from the previous row.
It was incredibly simple and looked great.
Does anyone remember a shawl like this or know how to recreate it? I haven’t been able to figure it out.

I made my shawl following the YouTube pattern “Häkeltuch mit Eselsohren.” It’s very easy to follow. Hope that helps you.

Thank you so much—that’s a great pattern, and it looks almost exactly like it, but you’re right, that was back in the ’70s; who knows what I may be remembering wrong.

Hello, dear crocheters, I’m looking for something similar. Many years ago, a friend came back from a health retreat in Bad Bramstedt with a crocheted shawl and the pattern. We got started right away and made at least 20 of them. We always had a gift ready for whoever needed one. The yarn was Schachenmayer Geschah, worked with double strands. The shawl was also super light. Unfortunately, that pattern was lost too, and the yarn is no longer available.

I can definitely recommend this YouTube tutorial, although a written one is more convenient for people our age.
I also gave away a lot of shawls like that back then. This kind of yarn or wool works well for this lace knitting.
