Working with embroidery floss

Dear users, dear authors,
what is embroidery floss and what do you use it for?

Besides embroidery, I use embroidery floss for very small crochet projects. It’s a bit fiddly because of the 6 strands, but it’s doable. I received a large box full of embroidery floss and pearl yarn as a gift, which I can use this way.

I always have some Sticktwist lying around in black and white; I use it to make eyes and noses on little crocheted animals. Unlike pearl yarn, Sticktwist is quite loose and not twisted as tightly, so you can use it to create nice, flat embroidery.

You can also embroider a patchwork-style table runner with embroidery floss; for that, you need thinner threads, which embroidery floss provides.

Sticktwist is a 6-strand embroidery thread that comes in many, many colors and shades. 
The thread is loosely twisted from 6 strands, so the “main strand” can be split very easily. Depending on the fabric or on how the embroidery should look afterwards, you use only some of the strands.
This way, you can work with one color using 1 to 6 strands and don’t need new material for every thread thickness. 
In my embroidery, I usually work with 2 to 3 strands, and for finer details like outlines, with 1 to 2 strands. 

Other uses have already been mentioned above. 
My friend likes to use it for small crochet projects.
