Dear Josefa,
we have some gardening to do. Now that my husband has torn out the old hedge, we need to plant 65 new Thuja Smaragd hedge saplings. To do that, we have to prepare the soil, install a lawn edger, and, of course, plant the trees. The new saplings are already lined up and waiting for their new home.
I wish you and all the readers of this thread a wonderful weekend.
Best regards, Ina
I see you have a full weekend schedule there. I hope you have weather as nice as we’ve had these past few days.
We’ll be spending the weekend at home with no plans. My son-in-law and grandson have come down with COVID-19 (thankfully, they’re doing quite well), so the rest of us are just waiting to see what happens over the next few days.
The weather’s been fantastic for quite a while now—finally some bright, dry days, which really lifts your spirits.
I don’t have anything planned—I’ve started on some “spring cleaning,” clearing out and sweeping the garage, vacuuming the car, getting rid of spider colonies, and having to sneeze a lot—dry weather = hay fever. You can’t have it all.
I’d love to plant some flowers on the balcony right now—at the first hint of spring, I can hardly wait. But the nights are still pretty chilly.
I’m also wishing everyone a wonderful and sunny weekend. I’m cutting out fabric for even more children’s clothes—I still have quite a bit to sew by March 16, because the head of the nationwide Kindertafel wants to send a convoy to Ukraine that weekend. They want to give gifts to the children who have to stay there—for whatever reason—things that will put a smile on their faces, even though they really have very little reason to smile right now. So that means I’ve got to really step it up to get as much together as possible. Next to me is a big Aldi bag stuffed to the brim with cuddly toys, pillows, teddy bears, and so on. Then there’s another bag from DM that’s almost full of clothes—a friend of mine is knitting children’s socks like crazy, just like my oldest daughter, so they can go along too. If anyone’s interested, yesterday’s Mainpost (March 9, 2022) has a big newspaper article about this campaign (in the Schweinfurt section)—unfortunately, it’s not allowed to post links here, otherwise I’d link to it.
Wow, it looks like you all have quite a lot planned for the weekend.
I’m taking it a bit easier—my job is exhausting enough as it is, and I’m also a bit laid up. So I’ll be staying on the couch or out on the balcony, working through my crochet orders (I’m just a little pressed for time there).
Maybe we’ll also go on a little bike ride. I’m really in the mood for that, and I’d love to stop at an ice cream shop along the way for some ice cream. Exactly.
You lovely people, I wish you all a wonderful, sunny weekend
@schnuckelina
You’ve got a lot planned, haven’t you.....
Isn’t it too cold to plant thuja? Silly question, but it’s still freezing at night (where we are). I’m itching to get out there, too—it’s relatively warm during the day. Luckily, I still have some snow in the garden—not much, but it’s almost white—otherwise I’d be heading out there too.... My daughter is complaining; it’s too cold to plant anything in the garden....
My grandchild was here today, and I got to enjoy spending time with them (and I did 😍 )....
Tomorrow my brother-in-law is having a birthday party....
I hope you all have a lovely, sunny Sunday.
At least here, the sun is shining, though it’s a bit chilly for the balcony.
My parents invited us to go bowling yesterday with their group. First, we had a delicious meal, punch, beer, and schnapps, then some exercise.
Everything was arranged in advance, including the use of the bowling alley.
It was so much fun. I think the last time I went bowling was maybe 15 years ago.
The funniest part was that all three top spots—along with the certificates—stayed within the family.
My mom took first place, I took second place by just one point, and my dad took third place among the men. Crazy, and I hadn’t practiced beforehand—which everyone joked about.
They even crowned the “Rat King.” We’d missed having such a cozy get-together for a long time, and I was able to really unwind from my daily work routine.
