Crocheting a sauna hat—which yarn works best?

Hello to all you busy bees.
My husband wants me to crochet him a sauna hat.
We’re not really fans of the usual felt hats.
He once saw one at a spa
that he really liked.

Can anyone give me some tips?
Where can you buy yarn like that?
Maybe at Hobbii?

I’d be happy to hear your answers and recommendations.

until just now, I had no idea what a sauna hat was. But thanks to Aunt Gog... I know now. You need these hats to protect your head from the heat (sensitive scalp—not everyone has hair, after all). And since you’ll be sweating, it needs to be breathable. I’ve read that felt, linen, or cotton are the preferred materials for these hats.

Since you don’t like felt very much, that leaves cotton and linen. There are plenty of yarns available in those materials. I could also imagine one sewn from terry cloth, which is mostly cotton anyway. For women, a turban looks more elegant—at least one with gathers.

I’m curious to see what the others here on the forum have to add.

Given the combination of heat and moisture, I’d always go with cotton—it’s comfortable against the skin and easy to wash.
