Lining Bags: What Do You Use to Line Bags, and Why?

What do you use to line bags, and why? Any tips would be appreciated.

iron-on batting is best for lining bags. I always include a product recommendation in my patterns.

The most common options are Vlieseline H640 or H630—the latter isn’t quite as thick and is a bit cheaper, so I always recommend it.

Cotton fabric or coated cotton fabric works best for lining bags.

yes, you’re right! I just realized my mind was completely elsewhere—namely, on padding bags ;).

I also use simple, thin cotton fabrics as lining for bags, but I always iron on H630 or H640 for reinforcement and padding. That gives the bags a little more structure.

For simple fabric pouches, I skip the interfacing.
