I’m almost always just a silent reader here on the forum, since I don’t have much to contribute yet.
I really love crocheting, but I still consider myself a beginner. I haven’t quite dared to tackle any “more difficult” projects yet. That’s why I mostly look for simple and free patterns.
But I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who makes these patterns available. I’ve also found lots of things on the blog that I’d love to crochet someday.
And for that as well: "Many thanks for the great patterns".
Gansl speaks right from my heart. Thank you so much for all your hard work, for the great advice, and for the fantastic patterns. I’m often a silent reader myself. Between taking care of the house and garden and being a single parent, I don’t have much time, and on top of that, I have lots of different hobbies, so participating in the forum usually falls by the wayside. I promise to do better.
Well, I’ll chime in too. I read along quietly and enjoy your suggestions, offers, and the pleasant “atmosphere” on your site. I’ve saved all the newsletters. But I have very little time for sewing or crafting.
I love seeing the wonderful things you create here.
For a going-away gift, I used one of the free sewing patterns to make a bear. The child I look after moved from near Cologne (where I live) to Berlin. The boy’s name was Aljoscha, and his bear was named “Joschbär” and became his favorite cuddly toy.
I find it very relaxing here and am delighted by all the inspiration.
Thank you, Marion from 51766 Engelskirchen
I’m also a silent reader. I used to do a lot of crocheting and crafts. That, along with many other activities, has been almost impossible for about a year now due to finger osteoarthritis. I’ve been working on a shawl for four months, and it’s almost finished—just a few rows left. I had to set it aside again because my arms are inflamed, and I don’t know when I’ll be able to continue. But I still enjoy the many wonderful patterns and the tips you share whenever someone needs help. Over the past few years, I’ve bought quite a few patterns that I’ll probably never use. The relaxed atmosphere here does me good, and I hope I can continue to be “just” a reader.
I wish you all a successful New Year and continued joy with your hobby!
@ilka-meiners,
I’m glad you’re enjoying it here. Of course, you’re welcome to read along here as long as you’d like. Maybe you’d like to contribute and join the discussion more often?
Hi Josefa,
thanks for asking. I’m doing well and making good progress on my crafts. I’ve put myself on a “yarn diet” this year and need to work through my stash...
I hope you and everyone else here are doing well, too.
Glad to hear you’re doing well, Ellenmama.
You’re currently one of the few here who’s on a “wool diet.” Most readers on the forum have decided to buy more wool. Conquering the Wool Mountain 2022: Live coverage ;)
How lovely that someone asked about that for once. I’m doing well; I just have the feeling that time is passing faster and faster.
I finally ordered fabric paints again from a large mail-order retailer. I like painting T-shirts for the children I look after during the day. The boys I’m currently looking after are totally into flamingos. So I painted them “Ingo T-shirts” for Christmas.
Next, I’m going to paint a cotton bag with a label from my favorite band.
Best wishes
Marion
Hello fluegelpueppchen, It’s great that you’re joining in.
I’ve started a thread about painting fabric; you can find like-minded people there. Have fun with it. Painting fabric
I just had to ask Ecosia what Ingo T-shirts are. Am I seeing this right—are they actually just regular T-shirts, or did I miss something? Marion, can you fill me in?
What do you use to paint the shirts? Sounds exciting. I’ve never done that before.
Lately I’ve been taking it easy—I’ve hardly had any time because my husband put down a rug in my sewing room. Now my feet—or rather, my legs—don’t get cold anymore when I’m sitting at the computer or sewing. To make room for it, I had to clear out part of the room, so I took the opportunity to do some decluttering. :-))) Man, it’s crazy how much stuff accumulates in such a short time—stuff that could actually go straight into the trash. ;-)
Then I spend hours every day knitting my “soul warmer”—it really takes a lot of yarn and time.
Good evening, Crazys!
For me, everything that happens online has taken a back seat. A friend’s husband died very suddenly. In the morning, he was lying dead next to her in bed. The funeral was today. We’re all still so shocked that we can hardly find the words for our grief.
I used my sleepless hours to finish crocheting a shawl that I started in October. Now that my soul is in a state of emergency, my aching fingers don’t seem so bad anymore.
So nothing is so bad that it doesn’t have something good about it.
