Dear users, dear authors,
What is satin? Is it not a fabric, but just a weave? What is Mako satin, and what is it used for?

A satin weave is used in satin weaving because this type of weave naturally produces a beautiful sheen; Mako is one of the finest and most luxurious types of cotton from Egypt—very fine and soft. Satin can be woven from all kinds of fibers, such as silk or synthetic fibers, and cotton is also very well suited for satin.
Personally, I’m not a big fan of it—it’s too heavy for me, and I always sweat so easily in it. It’s sometimes unsuitable as bedding, because there was this one incident—when I think about it, I still regret not being there when it happened :-). My sister loves satin—both as bedding and as nightwear—and the combination of the two is very dangerous :-) hihihihihi. She told me she jumped into bed and slipped; before she knew it, she was back out again because satin is just so slippery. I would have loved to see her sliding right across the bed like that.

Best, Inge

Did she hurt herself?

No, thank goodness not—it was just that her pride was slightly hurt because her sons were rolling on the floor laughing, but she ended up laughing about it herself afterward.

I really love satin, but ever since a more-than-romantic evening ended just as unromantically as it did at Inge’s sister’s place, it’s been off-limits as bedding in our house.

It’s a good thing no one got hurt.

I guess you could call that “satin romance”...

*lol* Exactly.
Back then we were still young and athletic—it was a futon, so you don’t fall very far. Today, with a senior-friendly bed at a comfortable height, it would be a different story. That’s why no more satin bedding. 😄

You guys write some funny posts!
Yeah, I still remember satin bedding really well, too. In every great movie, the actors had such luxurious-looking bedding. Well, of course you wanted that for your own bedroom, too!
It didn’t last long in our house, either. These days, I care more about coziness in the winter and breathability in the summer.

With the Mako satin bedding I see in catalogs, I always find the patterns so crisp and beautiful. You can make out every shade of color. But just because I think it’s beautiful doesn’t mean it’s right for me. In this case, just looking at it is enough.

Love, Ina
