Table decorations for Christmas Eve

You can find lots of ideas online. So I was inspired to sew something for the table decorations this year. We celebrate Christmas Eve with the whole family every year. Last year, unfortunately, it was just a small gathering, but I’m hoping for a lovely celebration together again this year. 



I’ve already collected a lot of jeans, and they’re piling up in the basement. Now I’m turning old clothes and tablecloths into little pouches for the cutlery. 



Until then, the little pouches are decorating my apartment. I’m going to put a few pine branches inside them and hang them up around the apartment. I finished two today; I need nine in total. 

That’s such a great idea! I always save old jeans, too—you can do so much with them. Now that I see your cutlery pouches, I’m actually thinking about making a denim Advent calendar.... But I’d have to collect a few more first.

Maybe you’d like to show what you’ve already made out of jeans—I’m always grateful for inspiration. 

Petra, they turned out really pretty! Is the appliqué embroidered? I also have a pair of jeans I need to sort out, but I’m not going to throw them away just yet—maybe I’ll find some more good ideas!

Christina, the appliqué for the first one was a Christmas tablecloth measuring 80x80 cm. It had so many stains that I didn’t want to use it during the Christmas season. 



The second appliqué was a pillowcase, already quite faded.

Now I’m working on the third one—I’m doing the embroidery myself right now. The eye is still missing, and I still have to sew on the buttons. Then I can get back to the sewing machine. 

I’d love to do that, Petra, once I’m back home—we’re still on vacation.

Number 3 is now finished as well. Until Christmas Eve, it’ll serve as a flower pouch. 

We’ve been back from vacation for a long time, but I’m getting more and more forgetful… and then I couldn’t remember what the thread title was, but now I’ve finally managed it.
Speaking of jeans, I like to recycle pants into bags—usually unlined, just as shopping bags—but here’s one with a lining and a little decoration:

And then you can spruce up some otherwise boring items. I like to wear a denim blouse over a shirt when it’s too chilly without one, but still too warm for a jacket. But denim on top and denim on bottom is a bit too much even for me, so I’m giving the top a new back panel made from the same fabric, pairing it with a matching pair of espadrilles, and presto—it looks completely different.

Your bag is great, too. I didn’t line mine back then.

The blouse idea is also great. Unfortunately, I don’t have any of my old denim shirts anymore.
