Twisted Stitches

How do you do those twisted stitches? Would you like to share your thoughts on this?

Does anyone else want to add anything?

I don’t really like knitting twisted stitches. Knitting through the back loop is still fairly easy, but I just can’t get the hang of purling through the back loop. I’ve already watched tutorials on YouTube, but I still don’t get it. So I always end up picking projects that don’t have any twisted stitches. It’s a shame sometimes, but there’s nothing I can do about it.

It’s a shame that you have to specifically avoid these patterns. Maybe someone here can explain it.

I can’t get the hang of twisted purl stitches either—or rather, I just don’t like them.

Twisted knit stitches are really easy. When knitting normally, you insert the needle into the front loop; when knitting a twisted stitch, you insert it into the back loop—and pull the stitch through.

Twisted stitches are stitches where the needle is inserted into the back loop. This twists the stitch to the left and creates more tension, making the knitting slightly less elastic.
That’s why they’re often used for edge stitches. And that’s why they’re well suited for sock cuffs, because they don’t stretch out as quickly.
If yarn overs are purled through the back loop on the wrong side row, they don’t create such large holes. This makes it easy to increase stitches invisibly.

Many people find twisted purl stitches difficult. I always help myself by inserting the needle into the stitch from the back, slipping it off, and then placing it back on the needle twisted to the left. Then I can purl it as usual.
