Bind off: How does it work?

how does binding off work?

Does anyone have anything to say about this?

When I finish a project by binding off and then need to close a seam, I like to use the 3-needle method. With this method—for example, at the shoulder—both shoulders are bound off together, resulting in a very neat seam, and you don’t have to reach for a needle and thread later on. 

As someone who doesn’t knit much, I’ve learned something new again—thanks for that.

Since my bind offs sometimes don’t turn out very even, I’ve been using a crochet hook for that.

I only bind off using a crochet hook—otherwise I’d get my fingers tied in knots ;-):-)

Petra, that’s a great idea! Even though I’ve knitted a lot, I hadn’t thought of that yet.

I’m so happy about that. I was really excited when I discovered it in the blogging world, too. I’ve also used this bind-off method many times for hats that end flat at the top.

I knitted this hat for my grandson once.
