Warm winter jackets/coats: Which ones do you like best?

Which winter jackets / coats do you like best?

I wear anoraks. But a hood is a must, because I don’t like ☔

I prefer jackets or short coats—the kind that come just above the knee. I once sewed myself a hooded loden coat that was almost ankle-length. After about 2 years, I had it shortened, and now I’m wearing it again because I fit into it once more after losing some weight :-)
The light-colored one at the top used to be a reversible loden coat; I had it for about 30 years. Two years ago, I retired it because it didn’t look nice anymore—it was worn out, etc.—but I still miss it; it was so warm, just beautiful.

Oh, Inge, I totally understand why you’re nostalgic for that 30-year-old loden coat. When a piece of clothing has kept you warm and been by your side for so long, you’ll always miss it in your closet. The bar for any new coat is set impossibly high.

The dark coat with the hood isn’t bad either.

For me, a winter coat has to be long, lightweight, and have a hood.
