Mistakes when crocheting

Why do some stitches sometimes get wide and stick out?

and why do holes sometimes appear even though you crochet 1 stitch into one stitch?

so that the project looks flawed

Hi, 

I don’t think there’s really any specific reason for that.
Maybe it depends on how you’re feeling that day, and you might not crochet quite evenly. I have that too. That’s what makes it handmade. 
We’re simply not machines. :-)

Could it be that you decreased in those spots? If so, try the invisible decrease—the stitches will be much tighter that way.
