Crafts for children and grandchildren: how do you do it?

How do you handle crafts for children and grandchildren?

Most of the gifts are homemade. I can always think of something.

I often get a request from my grandson. The last one was a pumpkin.

Color: Pumpkins have to be orange. And they have to have a face.

I usually ask him to draw a picture for me to work from. 

That pumpkin is absolutely the best :-)

I usually ask them what they want and then work on it accordingly.
Since I already have three grown-up grandchildren and a teenager (16), it’s better to ask—I even do this with the youngest, because at 11, they already know exactly what they like and what they don’t.

My son and his wife tell me what they might need. Sometimes my granddaughters also have ideas for toys they might like.

I ask them for the measurements, and that always works out pretty well.

The grandchildren’s daughters order/request it from us/me... and I try to make it according to their wishes

_ two grandchildren ordered “Schaffihosen” (work pants) with a little picture embroidered on them.... 

Every now and then, I get “orders” from my grandchildren. My daughter always says, “You don’t have to make everything they want.” But I’m happy to fulfill their wishes because I think handmade items are very personal and much better than store-bought ones. And when they’re requested, they’re truly appreciated.
  The last thing I made was a Halloween cape for my grandson.
