what is a coat dress and what is it good for?

A coat dress is usually sewn from wool fabric or cloth for everyday wear; it’s designed to be both a coat and a dress at the same time. It generally eliminates the need for a separate coat on top and is convenient for certain events, since you don’t have to keep an eye on your outerwear.  However, they’re also available in elegant fabrics like silk, linen, etc. It’s a very popular garment in the business world—you’re always smartly dressed without a lot of fuss. A coat dress is usually buttoned all the way down the front and has a belt at the waist, often with lapels, but it can also be high-necked. The belt can either be tied or fastened with a buckle. It often has pockets sewn into the side seams; patch pockets are rare, as they can make the dress look bulky. Coat dresses are available in every length—knee-length, mini, midi, or maxi—depending on your personal style and taste.
