How was your summer vacation?

Dear users, dear authors,
how was your summer vacation?

We haven’t been on vacation yet this year. But my time at home in my garden was wonderful. We made ourselves comfortable at home and enjoyed the time.

Last year, we started building a little shed (a “she shed”) and spent many hours there in the evenings.



The sun always shone in there in the evenings, so we could enjoy the last rays of sunlight.

  I was crocheting, my sweetheart was reading, with a glass of wine—right now we’re at the point where the stones in front are laid, and I still need to find the right plants to fill in the gaps. And I’m still working on the decor, too. We really need a (very) small table or cabinet, and I’m hoping for a roadside or flea-market find. 

That looks really nice—a great idea.

I/we didn’t go on vacation this year either. My dog is over 16 years old now and can barely walk anymore, so leaving her with someone else isn’t an option. Because of COVID, I didn’t really feel like traveling anyway.
So we went on more day trips and enjoyed ourselves in the garden.
I set up a nice little spot in the shade behind the house with a new garden set, so the heat was bearable and I could devote myself to crocheting outdoors.  

Yes, the garden was a nice alternative for many.

That’s exactly how it was for us, too. COVID-19 had already put a damper on our desire to travel anyway. But luckily, we have a garden at home. Many of you who read this know that we built a pond. We started in April with a shovel and a wheelbarrow, and now we have such a lovely oasis of relaxation. We enjoy it every day. I often sit at that table and knit or crochet—it’s so wonderfully relaxing and rejuvenating. Our visitors also always feel like they’ve been on a mini-vacation after spending a day with us.

I’m also soooo glad we have a garden. It made the COVID-19 lockdown a little easier to bear. I really felt sorry for the people living in small apartments with several others. Especially the children.

I also enjoyed spending the summer in the garden—it was a nice alternative. We only visited our grandchildren in the spring and now in September. We didn’t take a real vacation last year or this year.
