Dear users, dear authors,
What’s the latest on the 2021 Christmas markets? Will you be there?

I hope Christmas markets will take place this year—we really missed them last year. Without them, there’s no real Christmas spirit!

I don't know yet whether the Christmas market will take place....
the suitcase market at the end of October has been postponed until next year 😢

I heard on the radio yesterday that Christmas markets will be taking place here this year :) (According to the current plan!)

I’ll only be attending as a guest, though, not as a vendor.
I’m really, really hoping it works out. It’ll be Leo’s first Christmas market.

I’ve always loved Christmas markets—the stalls, the lights, and the smells.

But I think it’ll be too crowded for me, too cramped with all those people. I’m just not used to it anymore and can’t really picture it. I’m not sure, though, if any will be taking place in Stuttgart and the surrounding area.

Oh yes, Christmas market.
After all these years in Norway, we’re longing to set foot in a German Christmas market again. To drink a proper mulled wine with amaretto, eat a hot waffle, cotton candy, and gingerbread. I can practically smell the Christmas aroma already.
We’re really looking forward to that as visitors.
The last time was 9 years ago.

How’s it going?

I won’t be visiting any Christmas markets this year. From what I’ve been reading about how constantly people are being checked, I really don’t need that.

Yay 😃, I finally (got the courage to) sign up for a Christmas market. It’s really close to where I live and it’s a tiny one, at the end of November.
Now I’m figuring out what to offer.
Sewn items, embroidered items, etc.
Definitely our embroidered felt slippers.
I’m so excited 😊

That’s great. It’s nice that this is being offered. I also think that people are happy about any market they can visit.

A few weeks ago, I still thought that I definitely wouldn’t visit a Christmas market or an exhibition. In the meantime, I’ve been thinking about what it would have to be like for me to go. And if it’s a bit less crowded, then I’ll definitely go in the early evening (before the working people arrive) and enjoy the scent and everything that goes with it.

In any case, I wish you lots of lovely customers at your market who are ready to buy.

My first Christmas market (as a vendor) was this past weekend, and I’m very happy with how it went 😊

Everything has ended up being canceled here after all :(

Such a shame, but given the Corona situation here in the area, it’s the only right thing to do...

Let’s hope for 2022 :) Yesterday I had some mulled wine at home. And I’ll just craft/bake/sew/crochet the Christmas things myself :)

Nothing’s being canceled in Cologne—after all, they’re letting all 50,000 people back into the stadium. I definitely won’t be going to the big markets, but we live near a farm that always puts on a very small Christmas market, so I’ll definitely stop by there—it’s never very crowded.

In Bavaria, all Christmas markets were already canceled by Söder before November 25—nothing’s happening because of SARS-CoV-2.

Best regards, Inge

Everything’s been canceled here, too. The Christmas market was open for about two days, then it was shut down.
Only the ice rink and two food stands were allowed to stay open.
That doesn’t put me in the Christmas spirit at all. It’s a real shame, actually. It’s not very nice for all the schoolchildren.
What’s going to happen now? After all, we only have one life.

In Dortmund, I think the medieval lights Christmas market was canceled back in October.
Even without COVID, the one in the city center would be too crowded for me. We passed by it on Wednesday during our shopping spree.
It’s hard for me to tell if it was usually more crowded.

Everything’s been canceled here, too. In Stuttgart, they’re offering mulled wine to go. I saw a picture of it.

Such a shame for all the stall owners. They bought everything and made all their plans, and then it all fell through.

Have pretty much all of them been canceled?

In Switzerland, the Christmas markets are (still) taking place. Winterthur has a very nice Christmas market—not too big and not too small—with a lovely mix of offerings. This week, I met up with a friend there for a glass of mulled wine. You don’t even need a certificate to stroll past the little outdoor stalls. The 3G rule applies only at the food and drink stands. I really enjoyed it; for me, the Christmas market, with all its pretty things and wonderful smells, is simply part of the Advent season. And as Petra already wrote, the cancellation is certainly a disaster for the stall owners—for the second year in a row, and on such short notice.
