Beautiful moth
You only see its beauty when it isn’t fluttering around. 

Looks like a box tree moth has made itself right at home at your place.

Its caterpillars aren’t exactly popular. They strip boxwood bare. That’s no fun for a garden lover, no matter how beautiful it looks.

I don't like it at all anymore, and I'm having murderous thoughts..... I love my boxwood and have been fighting the caterpillars for years 

Our entire boxwood hedge in the front garden fell victim to the little critter.
And in the back garden, the 3 large boxwood topiary balls too.
I could still cry about it today.
But that’s the price of globalization. The caterpillars arrived in Europe on shipments of cheap plants from China. We all need to take a good look at ourselves here.

We had this pest two years ago, too, and it cost many people their boxwood trees. Since last year, they’ve recovered, because our birds have discovered the caterpillars as their new delicacy. We’ve seen them coming out of the bushes with the caterpillars. Since then, at least the boxwoods here all look fully recovered again.
