How was your August?

are you satisfied with August?

Dear Josefa,

for me, August went by way too fast. The last month of summer always makes me a little wistful, because fall is coming and we have to say goodbye to the warmth and the bright, long days. It always takes me a while to get used to that. Otherwise, I can’t complain about August; it brought me plenty of fruit and flowers in the garden, the weather was very pleasant, and my family and friends are healthy—so, I’m happy with it.

August just kind of dragged on, but I still managed to get quite a bit done—like the shawl for my godmother, sewing myself a jacket for fall, and a few other little things.
I always look forward to fall, because in my opinion, August is usually way too hot and therefore unbearable for me. So it didn’t bother me in the least that it was a bit cooler and often rainy this year—in some ways, I actually liked it much better that way.
