These two gift bags are a wonderful way to show that the gift comes from the heart! Made with lots of love, the wrapping itself becomes part of the gift. Whether you want to wrap a little token of appreciation in them or a gift certificate, the recipient is sure to be delighted!

Both bags are knitted in double-face, so both beautiful sides look lovely, and there are no floats on the inside. You can even turn the bags inside out and use them from the other side.

Have fun knitting and giving them as gifts!

You can buy a ready-made box with a ribbon around it or a paper gift bag. But a gift only becomes really special when not only the gift is special, but the packaging too. The recipient will be touched that you put so much effort into it for them. That's a special kind of appreciation you are expressing. And most of the time, the handmade gift packaging can then also be used for other things.

Here are a few examples of handmade gift packaging. You can wrap and give all kinds of lovely things in them. For more information, pictures, and the pattern, just click on the headings.

Warm regards from Ina

Craft bucket with lots of compartments

Here the packaging is a gift in itself. It’s wonderful for giving yarn, needles, and a craft magazine to a crafting friend.

Small square basket

You can use it to give all kinds of little things—e.g., homemade cookies. That always goes over well. Later, the little basket can stand in the bathroom, for example. You can crochet it with or without a handle.

Favorite bag with heart for children

Because of its size and look, children especially love this little bag. You can give toys, dolls, doll clothes, etc. in it. Later, the little bag will hold all kinds of treasures. The base is sturdy, so it doesn’t sag and the bag stands up well.

St. Nicholas boot

Yes, this is also a very unique gift packaging for St. Nicholas surprises. You can give it to little ones and grown-ups alike.

Large round basket with bobbles

This is wonderful for giving new yarn. The yarn and the packaging go together perfectly. And the little basket is practical too. You can always store your current project in it. The base is worked double and sturdy, so it doesn’t sag. The rim is decoratively folded over.

Christmas or gift bag

The colors alone suggest that this little bag is for Christmas. The pom-poms look like snowballs. But you can also crochet it in other lovely favorite colors and use it to give small gifts. No box, no paper, but reusable packaging that will be loved.

Round basket with a mesh pattern

And here is one last suggestion for lovely gift packaging: a round basket with a sturdy base. You can make it in any size you like. It is especially well suited for giving yarn and similar things, because then the packaging matches the contents.

Oh, I quickly have to add one more ... this is what the gift packaging looks like:

And this is the content:

It doesn't get any better than this, does it? You can take the "board game" anywhere and play it. It's washable and guaranteed one of a kind.

Best wishes from Ina

A first-day-of-school gift brings even more joy when it comes in thematically matching packaging. This school satchel is perfect for that.

The school satchel is made of cardstock and measures approximately 20.5 x 22 x 10 cm (I didn’t include the handle and straps in the measurements). It’s easy to make, but some crafting experience would be very helpful here.

You’ll also find crochet patterns for original, personalized gift packaging in my shop. I’ll introduce a few of them to you here:

This pretty red gift bag with hearts  is crocheted using the tapestry technique and criss-cross double crochet stitches. The pattern explains in detail how it’s done. The bag is wonderfully sized for wrapping bottles nicely, but other small surprises can also be tucked inside.

Do you want to give a gift to someone who is a London fan? The royal guard soldier  is crocheted around an empty cardboard roll (e.g., from toilet paper). The upper body can be removed, so you can place a small gift inside. How about a voucher for an English course or a trip to London?

There is also a matching counterpart to the guard soldier for people who prefer to stay in Germany: the Munich Kindl is also crocheted around a cardboard roll and can be opened. Inside there is room for a voucher for a stroll through Munich or a few Bavarian specialties.

These cute lucky pigs, which are crocheted around an empty Kinder Surprise egg capsule, are perfect for very tiny (but no less valuable)  surprises.

At weddings, people often give money or a voucher as a gift. You can hide them in this charming little bridal couple . If you adjust the appearance of the two a little to match the real bridal couple, the newlyweds are sure to recognize themselves and appreciate the gift even more.

And finally, one more idea for an invitation to a Halloween party: The candy jar with skull can be used as a spooky Halloween lantern after the contents have been eaten.

If you’re looking for even more gift packaging ideas, take a look around the “Gift Packaging” section in my shop!

This colorful patterned chocolate box is so pretty that it can also be used as a storage box: If the dividers get in the way, they can simply be left out. By the way, the same applies if you want to give something other than chocolates in the box.

The box is made from photo cardstock and measures approx. 9.5 x 5.5 x 9.5 cm. As a chocolate box, it is suitable for four chocolates of approx. ø 3–3.5 cm. It is very easy to make and also well suited for crafters with little experience.

Quick, easy, and versatile: No matter what occasion you need gift wrapping for, you can adapt these boxes to any occasion by making them out of photo cardstock in the appropriate color and decorating them accordingly.

These four boxes, measuring approximately 10 x 10 cm, 9 x 9 cm, 8 x 8 cm, and 7 x 7 cm, are made from photo cardstock, are very easy to make, and are also well-suited for beginners.

These pillow boxes are also very quick to make, because there is only one spot to glue. The boxes become three-dimensional and self-closing solely thanks to their folding!

These boxes are made from patterned cardstock and measure approx. 6 x 5 x 1.8 cm, 8 x 7 x 2.5 cm, 10 x 9 x 3.2 cm, 12 x 11 x 4 cm, and 14 x 13 x 4.5 cm. They are very easy to make and are also well suited for craft beginners.

This unique triple gift box is perfect for anything small, such as chocolates, candies, jewelry, collectibles, or lucky charms.

The box measures approximately 9 x 9 x 9 cm in total; the large bottom box measures approximately 9 x 4.5 x 9 cm, and the small top boxes measure 4.5 x 4.5 x 9 cm. The patterned paper is included as a file in the download.

The box is made from a single piece and requires precise work and some crafting experience.
