Small stuffed animals for star children (Schmetterlingskinder)

Hello, my name is Heike. I’m new to the forum. I’ve been doing handicrafts for 45 years and learned how to crochet these little amigurumi animals and dolls on this website. I usually knit and embroider, but I’m really enjoying this too.
I read about the Star Children online. I’m looking for people who would also be willing to crochet little animals and dolls for these little ones. It would be so lovely if the Star Children had a lovingly crafted stuffed animal or little doll in their farewell box. Even though they weren’t able to live in this world, their parents would surely be happy to be able to give their child something lovingly made as a farewell gift. If there are two identical stuffed animals, one can stay with the parents, so they’ll have something to comfort them during the time of mourning afterward and as a keepsake.
Schmetterlingskinder eV provides farewell boxes to hospitals free of charge. These boxes are categorized by different weeks of pregnancy. Kind-hearted people from all over Germany crochet, knit, and sew little hats, socks, and swaddling blankets for them. Because there are no clothes for such tiny babies, this ensures they, too, can be buried with dignity. You can also visit the website to learn more.
Even at the hospital in my hometown of Winsen Luhe, no one was aware of this initiative. I was so happy that I was able to pass this information on to the midwives.

You can also visit a midwife in the delivery room at your local hospital. They’re always very grateful when people remember the “star children.”

I think this is a great idea. I’m not an expert on small stuffed animals, but I am when it comes to caps. Maybe Sternenkinder eV has an address on its website where you can send the items.

According to the midwife, most children are about 20 cm long (those who die in early pregnancy)
But the association will surely give you more information about the sizes.
