I’m enjoying my stay in the Altes Land again and letting myself be looked after. I’m having some side effects after the second COVID vaccination.

Dear Josefa, thank you very much. I wish you and all the readers a wonderful weekend, too. After spending last weekend and the days that followed helping my son and his family move into their new house, I’m now just taking it easy this weekend.

It’s summer, and it’s really doing its best to please me. Flowers are blooming wildly and colorfully everywhere, and fruit is ripening all around. In my greenhouse, there are new cucumbers to harvest every day. So tomorrow we’ll have braised cucumbers. And then I’ll bake a plum cake with crumble topping on a baking sheet. So we’ll just be feasting and enjoying the summer at our new favorite spot by the pond. That’s how I like to live my life.

Unfortunately, I have to work this weekend. By the way, this is my last weekend on the job.
Then I’ll have to work eight more times. August 10 is my last day at the hotel. Finally.

After that, I can take my time packing, tidying up, and cleaning the apartment—my husband’s going to repaint it.

Ina, enjoy your weekend at your new favorite spot. I’d love to relax there right now, too.
Mmm, delicious braised cucumbers—I love those, too.
We’ll catch up on all that once we’re back in Germany. We’re already looking forward to it—if only we were there already.
But time is just flying by now—that’s how it’s supposed to be.

Another week has flown by...
Today, I’m planning to do some weekly cleaning, do the laundry, and bake some August 1st rolls....
This afternoon, I hope to find time to sew and embroider some children’s aprons—I’ve got some designs in mind.... We’ll see if I can actually pull it off.

Summer here is very indecisive and seems to change its mind pretty quickly, sending cooler temperatures our way. But right now the sun is shining, and I’m enjoying the moment. 

Today I’ll be doing a bit of gardening and taking a long walk with some of the family. I’ll spend the rest of the time crocheting. 

@Marlies, I hope you feel better soon. I know how you feel—both of my vaccinations really knocked me out, and I felt absolutely terrible. I hope you’re feeling much better again very soon.

Marlies, wishing you a quick and full recovery.
It’s going to be a quiet weekend for me, because I can feel a change in the weather for the worse in all my bones; my hip is grumbling quite a bit and my legs aren’t really cooperating today either—just my typical weather-change aches.
Later I’ll make myself comfortable with my knitting and do some knit-knit, as my nephew always used to say when he saw Grandma knitting :-) I’ll show you pictures of what I’m knitting later this week
@ bergli, will you show us your children’s aprons when they’re finished? I’m curious :-)

@ Akela: Plans are made to be changed 😁. As soon as I’ve sewn them, I’ll be happy to show them..... .But not right now,.....   when I wanted to cut out the fabric, it hadn’t been washed yet.....  so it won’t happen today, but next week....... 

@ WollwunderPetra: August 1st rolls are August 1st buns (dough like a butter braid, but shaped into small rolls), tomorrow Switzerland celebrates its birthday..... and August 1st rolls are part of that. (Unfortunately they’re all gone again already, so no photo 😜..... they were so tasty... why wait until tomorrow, they’d be old again by then 😂)   A little Swiss flag goes on top 😊

Thanks for your get-well wishes. I’m slowly getting back on my feet. With the first shot, you couldn’t even see the injection site, let alone any side effects. This time, the area around the injection site became rock-hard and hot—about the size of my palm—it hurt, and it started to itch. Every movement of my arm hurt, and I felt really queasy.
So the short getaway to Altes Land was a welcome distraction.
