Dear users, dear authors,
what are you starting July with? What are you working on right now?

My bread basket needs a new cover, so I’m going to sew one today

Best regards, Inge

…..it would be nice if I could finally get around to turning these finished projects into patterns… My problem is that I’m constantly coming up with new ideas… But I always procrastinate a bit before I start writing… I’ve decided not to start anything new this month and to work my way through this mountain of projects…. Wish me luck—and bad weather! Best regards

Wow, you can tell just by looking at the finished scarves? I always have to take notes—otherwise it turns into total chaos.

One of my scarves is currently being tested, and I have a project in the works, but because of my day job, I barely have time to crochet right now. I really need a vacation to recharge.

I’m feeling a bit like Petra. Over the past few months, I’ve started a lot of projects, finished some, but haven’t written any patterns yet.
My mind just keeps getting in the way—before I know it, I’ve got something new on my needles.
BUT, now it’s time to finish up what’s in progress and then write the pattern. At least, that’s what I’m hoping for :)

@Petra & Petra :-))

How do you handle the photos? I wish I could crochet my patterns first and then write them up later (that would be my dream), but I actually have so many step-by-step photos that I’d have to crochet everything all over again afterward :-/

@ Marion:
I write down (or rather, scribble down) the pattern while I’m crocheting or knitting. I also take photos along the way, which I later include in the pattern. I then add an asterisk to my notes to indicate where the photo should go. That makes it easier for me to assign them later.
Most of the time, I work on two or three pieces for the pattern. That means I’m my own tester :) As a result, my notes may also include any necessary changes.
It takes some practice to turn all of that into a neat pattern ;)

@Petra:

Haha :-)))
Yeah, it’s pretty much the same for me, and to be honest, I’m my own tester, too :-))
When I do call on testers, it’s more of a gimmick...

I’ll steal that idea with the stars for the photos—sometimes you just can’t think of the simplest things when you’re drowning in a sea of yarn!

In my notes, I write "picture" next to it. Afterwards, I have to see which picture is the right one. I’m not perfect.

My embroidery machine isn’t doing what I want it to anymore… which is annoying.
Now I’m looking around to see if I should get a dedicated embroidery machine or another combo machine (sewing and embroidery)?
My laptop is also slowly giving out… it has all my embroidery designs and the software for creating them. I managed to get the laptop working again, though…
As for crafts, I’m spinning sheep’s wool—my daughter has dwarf sheep, and I’m spinning that wool right now.
I’m also knitting a patchwork blanket with leftover yarn

Kind regards, Bergli

@ Bergli, I’m all for separate machines, meaning a dedicated embroidery machine and a dedicated sewing machine, because if something goes wrong with one, you’re not left with nothing; this way you at least still have one machine you can work with. I’ve never been a big fan of combination machines, for the reason mentioned above, but everyone has to decide that for themselves.
Your blanket is awesome, Bergli, it looks amazing

Best, Inge

Bergli, that blanket is absolutely beautiful—it’s great.

I’m currently working with tapestry crochet and crocheting little coasters.
