I had my loom with me the whole time, moving from one shady spot to the next. 
....my first tablet-woven trim....
It’s a ton of fun, and I can take the loom with me wherever I go 🙈

Wow, Steffi, that trim looks great. It’s sure to be a lot of fun and very creative.

.... the “creative” part will come later, once I can create my own tablet-weaving drafts. ... 
In tablet weaving, the very first thing you do is decide on your pattern. The threads you set up are colored and are threaded onto tablets (here, squares with 4 holes) in a specific order. You then weave with a single color; turning the tablets creates the pattern.... 
This is such an old technique—I discovered it at a “Viking village” and just had to try it out. I’d say the band is tear-resistant.

I “treated” myself to a book... 700 pages of knowledge, and it even includes a few patterns.... It’s like knitting and crocheting—just reading doesn’t work, so I just start and keep the book nearby.... (A glass of wine with it is unfortunately rather counterproductive🙈, but it’s still quite nice out in the garden.... one to savor.)
This will make lots of belts and dog collars/harnesses....
