Blouson: what is it?

Dear users, dear authors,
what is a blouson? Are there differences compared to jackets, vests, suit jackets, blazers, etc.? Are suit jackets only for men and part of a men's suit—could that be right?
I could, of course, ask Google, but I'm sure you may have a lot of expertise on this topic. :-)

A blouson is a jacket that has an elastic waistband at the bottom, so it doesn’t hang straight like a suit jacket or blazer, but instead has a loose, slightly puffy fit. The advantage is that if the waistband fits snugly, cold air doesn’t creep up your lower back. Blousons were very popular with military pilots because the loose, puffy cut of the jacket gave them plenty of freedom of movement. It took a while for the so-called bomber jacket to catch on in civilian fashion, but once it did, it became—and remains—a popular choice for both men and women :-)

I had a brother-in-law who flew a jet for the Americans, and then my very best husband was in the Navy aviation corps—if you’re not familiar with that, then I’m not sure either ;-) :-). On top of that, there’s my education; there you also learn about fashion and its trends—that alone is a fascinating field. These days, no woman would walk around in everyday life wearing a crinoline, i.e., a hoop skirt.

Hoop skirt: Nothing stays out of style forever. Maybe there’ll be another hoop skirt trend someday. :-)
I’d love it if we could talk about fashion history and such more often here, but I’m not sure if anyone would be interested.

Well, I imagine riding a bike in a hoop skirt would be complicated... But a hoop skirt would certainly look chic. The petticoats of the ’50s were kind of like hoop skirts, too.  

Ha, I drive a small sports car that’s also been lowered. Now I’m just imagining how I’m supposed to get in there wearing a petticoat.
