Back for a visit

Are hedgehogs out and about in your gardens again? One stopped by for a meal at our place today. We’re really happy about it. 

No hedgehogs, but sparrows, great tits, and blue tits on the balcony.

We have sparrows in the awning this year. You can really hear them chirping. We’re looking forward to seeing the fledglings when they leave the nest.

I have redstarts and blackbirds, as well as a few house sparrows—every morning there’s a chorus of chirping, incredibly loud and full of joy

Here, it’s the squirrels and deer that are running around in the garden :-)

Deer—oh, that sounds great. Then you must live on the edge of a field or forest. It must be lovely to watch them. 

Yes, we have at least one hedgehog here, too. We’ve been feeding it since it came out of hibernation so it can regain its strength quickly. We also have starlings nesting under our roof, and sparrows and blackbirds are flitting about in and around the garden.

Here, it’s the squirrel that’s scampering around among the birds

When the sparrows still had chicks in their nest and the squirrel was in a tree very close by, both parents attacked the squirrel. We were really surprised—how brave! The squirrel then scurried off and hopped away. Even though squirrels are nest predators, we’re happy to see them hopping around the garden.
