Why are polka-dot designs so popular?

Do you like polka-dot patterns? Why are they so popular?

I like polka dots. Why do we like them? That’s a tough question. I think this preference might stem from childhood. As kids, we had lots of clothes with polka dots on them. Even the seats of the sandbox at my house had colorful dots painted on them.

In the 1950s, polka dots were also in style on adult clothing. There were lots of dresses with petticoats that had polka dots on the fabric. My mom had one like that :-)

When I was a teenager, I also had several blouses with polka dots. I really liked them. Maybe I associate them with something cute, light, playful, sassy, and fun. Today, there’s almost nothing with polka dots left in my closet. These days, I love paisley, so unfortunately, polka dots don’t stand much of a chance.

Maybe someone still has a polka-dot item of clothing they’d like to show us? The rest of us would love to see it, right?
