Hi everyone,
I thought I’d share my birthday gifts with you virtually. That way, we can all enjoy them together. In addition to candy, sparkling wine, and gift cards, I received lots of creative gifts. Here are the standouts that I was especially happy to receive.
For example, there’s an old-fashioned metal tin filled with
homemade cookies
. The lid of the tin has a handle. I think the tin is sooo beautiful, but the cookies are also absolutely delicious—the best cookies in the world! My friend Andrea actually only bakes them for me at Christmas using a secret recipe. In any case, they contain lavender from her garden. That’s why they smell so good. Combined with the other ingredients, they taste simply divine and are a little addictive. Luckily, there are still a few left in the tin.
Since my dear friend Andrea is also very creative—she works with concrete—she designed a
birdbath
for my garden. Inside is an old porcelain plate serving as the drinking bowl. She knows, of course, that I love roses, which is why she chose this design. And she even added a little porcelain heart. The gold lettering will wash away with the rain over time, but the little birds will know what’s up anyway.
My friend Ute gave me a
glasses case
. The embroiderers among you will nod in recognition. This is now where I’ll always keep my needlework glasses.
It came with a
handmade card
, though not one she made herself. If you look closely, you’ll see that tiny, delicate strips of paper were rolled, arranged, and glued onto it. What meticulous work! I just had to show you the card—I was so impressed.
To satisfy our appetites, my son and grandson baked
some cakes
. They love doing this and always have a lot of fun with it. One was a cheesecake, because that’s my favorite—very creamy, it just melts in your mouth. And another was something fresh: a poppy seed cake with yogurt and raspberries—also super delicious. You can definitely eat more than one slice of that :-)
Then I also got something to read. In addition to a family saga—which I’m particularly enjoying right now—there was a book related to my hobby. I’m really looking forward to that, too. Take a look at the title:
But the best gift of all is the
people
who thought of me. Their love and their thoughts went into every gift and every greeting. I feel truly blessed in every way. Maybe you enjoyed looking at these photos a little, too.
I wish all my readers a wonderful evening.
Warm regards from Ina
