Chenille Wire

Dear users, dear authors,
what is chenille wire and what do you use it for? Is there a connection to chenille yarn?

As far as I know, it’s pipe cleaner wire, which you can also use for crafts and such.

Inge is right—it’s also called “pipe cleaner wire.” But since I don’t smoke a pipe, I can’t say for sure if it’s actually used for that. It’s definitely available at tobacco shops, though. You can definitely use it for crafts and bend it into cute little figures.

Chenille yarn is the soft version of this, just without the wire in the middle. It’s a very soft synthetic yarn. But it’s not really my thing, since I prefer natural fibers.

Regular pipe cleaner wire is even stronger and sturdier than chenille wire. Chenille wire, on the other hand, is more flexible and much fluffier, and it comes in a wide variety of colors. I like to use it for figurines or animals that stand on their own. I don’t use it for things that small children play with.
It provides flexible support in crocheted flower stems.
