Embroidering a Y-shaped nose

how is the best way to embroider noses on animals / amigurumis?

Any tips on this?

I don’t make amigurumi or crocheted figures that need a face. So I don’t have any tips to offer on that. That’s where the many amigurumi fans need to chime in.

In general, I find that whether I like a figure or not depends on how nicely the face is embroidered. Sometimes it’s just the little details that make the difference. I’d also be curious to learn some interesting things about this topic here. Do you decide in advance what facial expression the figure should have? And do you use stencils, or do you do it freehand? Is the nose always embroidered black or gray, or are there even shades of color???

And how do you apply the blush to the cheeks? Is it real blush?

Well, I crochet a lot of amigurumi. Mostly little dolls, too.
For dolls, I embroider the noses using the same color as the face—just a few small cross-stitches repeated a few times. I don’t like noses that are too bulky—just a subtle hint of one.
Sometimes I’ve also had a pattern where the nose was practically crocheted right in (multiple stitches into one, then decrease again)—that way, the nose practically puffs out on its own.

For animals and teddy bears, there are those ready-made black triangular noses. For teddy bears, you can also embroider these Y-shaped noses with a mouth. So, the Y; below the Y, a half-arc = mouth; embroider the upper part of the Y completely.
For larger figures, just crochet small bumps and sew them on.

For blush, I use an old lipstick. Put a little on your finger and rub it lightly onto the amigurumi’s cheeks. Done.
