Knitting/Crocheting Socks: How Long Does It Take You to Make a Pair?

How long does it take you to make a pair of crocheted or knitted socks?

That’s an interesting question. Well, I can make one sock in an evening. I haven’t timed it yet. It also depends on how long and how big they are.

Oh, I’ve never really kept track, and I don’t usually write down how much time I spend on a project anyway. I’m not someone who knits socks regularly—just every now and then. But the same goes for me here: the journey is the destination—and if it’s a beautiful pattern and I’m having fun, then it can take a few days. 

Wow, Monika: I’ve never managed to finish a single sock in one evening! That said, I never go below size 39/40 to 43, and I’ve never knitted sneaker socks.  (“Sneaker” became “Senker”!) But it doesn’t bother me at all, and if the pattern isn’t too complicated, I think socks are perfect for knitting while watching TV. As Petra says: The journey is the destination!

Yeah, that’s right. I never look at the clock either, and the journey is the destination—exactly. When I watch movies, a sock just seems to knit itself. I can sometimes finish one in a single evening. It’s usually around size 39. Larger socks take me longer.
