Which glue holds fabric rock-solid?

Hi, I want to glue a decorative stone onto a satin ribbon, fabric, or crocheted item. It needs to hold rock-solid and also withstand washing. I read about contact adhesive that’s supposed to stick even to vertical surfaces—that sounds impressive. But does it work on fabric too?

Otherwise, I have the choice between superglue, hot glue sticks, and rhinestone glue. Does anyone have experience with these? Thanks! Best regards—I’ll see if I can upload a photo.

If at all, I’d try using fabric glue.
Hot glue definitely won’t hold, and superglue, rhinestone glue, and contact adhesive will make the ribbon stiff.

Best regards

Oh, and by the way: there are also sew-on rhinestones. That would be my choice.

Hi, thanks. I’d prefer to sew them on, but unfortunately that doesn’t work with these stones. I’ll post a photo.

I’ve had good results with fabric glue for rhinestones...

It can become hard/stiff, no problem, but it shouldn’t fall off. Just good quality.

Are those wax beads or stones? Generally, you can’t put them in the washing machine—at the very least, the color will come off, if not the entire bead or stone.
Or are we just talking about this “metal thing”?
In that case, I’d do a wash test and a glue test, because coatings on parts like that tend to peel off, which makes them hard to glue securely anyway.

Thanks. That metal thing is the back of the stone. The front of the stone is probably plastic—so much for quality—but I have to cut corners somewhere. It should at least hold well. So the back needs to be attached to the satin ribbon. Best regards

I’ve had good results with Gütermann fabric glue. I think that’ll hold up too.
