Gift ideas for the lavender anniversary

Hi everyone, I need your creativity right now.

My parents’ 46th wedding anniversary is on March 20… I just looked it up on Google—it’s the lavender anniversary. They usually go on vacation around that time. They didn’t go last year, and they probably won’t this year either.

I’d still like to surprise them with a little something. I don’t know anything about lavender at all… and I don’t have any in my garden either. I’d have to check at the garden center, which wouldn’t be a problem. But I think just a pot of lavender would be kind of lame.

So I’m stuck for ideas. 

A big, fluffy blanket with a lavender design—or at least in the right color?

But it’s just supposed to be a little something.

Ruth: I saw that, too. But actually, I didn’t want to crochet this time… but I don’t really know what I want either. That doesn’t make it any easier 😃

Maybe something Anton can help make, too. I was actually thinking that we could use a potted lavender plant and I could decorate the flowerpot with Anton… but that’s kind of silly, too. 

You could also try googling “crafting with lavender.” There are lots of decorative things you can make—also with children.
 
And if you don’t want to do crafts: a spa set (shower gel, bath salts, etc.) or lavender sachets for the linen closet

Hi Sandra, that really is a special anniversary. Maybe my off-the-cuff idea would work for you?

How about making some lavender bath salts with Anton? There are recipes for that online. You basically mix dried real lavender with coarse sea salt and whatever else you like and think looks nice. Let it steep (if you have the time) and then pour it into a decorative jar. Tie on a little decoration… you definitely need to include a heart, along with some lavender-colored ribbon and/or lace—and there you have a little gift.

Anton could mix everything together in the big bowl and help with the filling, too.

If you’re writing a greeting card, it could be a big cut-out heart. Inside, a personal message, a date… and a lavender-colored fingerprint from his hand.
