Hardworking little helpers: What are you working on today?

dear little helpers,
what are you working on right now?

I’m knitting a pair of baby pants. What really surprises me is the color flow of the yarn. At first, I was knitting in rows, and it looked very uneven. But now that I’ve started knitting in the round from the seat down, I really love how the yarn looks. Large swaths of color, with very smooth transitions. Even with size 3 needles, when I knit in the round using only knit stitches, I get a very even stitch appearance. 

I’ve finished a summer sweater for a baby doll.



And I’m working on a gauge swatch for a hat. I’m making the hat as a birthday gift for my granddaughter.

Petra, you’re really quick. The shawl looks great. I thought you were knitting the cat shawl for yourself.

The blanket I started—using the shadow knitting technique—is still lying there exactly as I set it aside a while ago. But I want to have it finished by Christmas.

Instead, I’ve started a baby blanket using the C2C method. That’s more fun for me right now.

Marion, isn’t it great that you can try out soooo… many techniques?

In the hospital, shadow knitting was just the thing—I got a lot done there.
I’m also experimenting a lot right now and only knit a few rows in the evenings. Unfortunately, shadow knitting doesn’t work so well while watching TV because you have to count so much, and you can’t really see what you’re doing :-)
