Picking Up Dropped Stitches

Dear users, dear authors,
how do you pick up dropped stitches again, for example when knitting? When crocheting, it’s not that difficult, I assume.

I use the crochet hook to pick up dropped stitches

I do it exactly the same way as Akela. With more complicated patterns, especially lace patterns, the only solution is to tink back. I usually can’t manage that with a crochet hook anymore.

I feel the same way as Akela and Ruth. It usually works great with a crochet hook.

This was the biggest rescue job I’ve managed so far.

With a lot of patience and a crochet hook, I was able to fix it, and you couldn’t even tell there was a mistake afterward. 

That looks like a lot of work.

Yes, Josefa, it took a while. But unraveling everything and knitting it all over again would have taken much longer.

A student dropped a stitch in garter stitch and then knitted two ridges over it. At the bottom, I was able to crochet the stitch back up using the ladder, but I had to unravel the two ridges because there wouldn’t have been enough yarn. If a stitch hasn’t dropped too far, I pick it up with my knitting needle; otherwise, I use a crochet hook.
