Crocheting a Rug

Hello, my dear crochet friends,

The rug project has started and I already want to give up.
I understand the increases for a circle (round 1: increase in every stitch, round 2: increase in every second stitch, etc.). But because I don’t just want to crochet a circle using single crochet stitches, but also want to incorporate patterns, I’m reaching my limits. The rug just keeps getting wavy. How do I calculate that for each round? Thank you all so much!!!!

Your calculation method definitely works for double crochet…
For single crochet, you should calculate about half that amount
