Stone painting as a new craft trend?

Dear users, dear authors,
a while back we had a thread on upcycling stones—for example, by crocheting around them—but stone painting seems to be very trendy right now. Do you like it, too?

I’ve seen stones painted with mandalas made of colored dots quite often lately. Of course, they looked very colorful, and the circular patterns had an almost magnetic appeal for me. There are actual painting kits available for this, complete with acrylic paints and stencils. I think they’re beautiful to look at, but I don’t feel the need to try it myself.

Two years ago, I bought a large oil bottle and a white planter at a flea market that had this kind of dot painting motif on them. So you can do this kind of painting on more than just stones. In any case, it certainly requires a lot of concentration and a steady hand.

I love stone painting and have been doing it with small stones for several years now. I’ve also bought some special colored pencils that work really well for this.

I often give these stones as gifts with motivational sayings on them. 

A few years ago at the dermatology clinic in Hersbruck, I painted some stones with acrylic paint.
