What is the difference between a Celtic cable and a cable pattern?

A cable pattern usually consists of two “strands” that are twisted to the right or left, or that move toward or away from each other.
In Celtic cable patterns, the twists are much more complex, as multiple “strands” are twisted and intertwined. They look like ornaments.
