Dear users, dear authors,
COVID-19 is making the holidays difficult this year.
But the good news is that we have a great community here in the forum, and if you’re feeling lonely, you’re sure to find someone here to chat with.
Of course, this isn’t a real Advent or a real Christmas like it used to be, but it’s better than nothing.

Would you like to share your thoughts on this?

Josefa, that’s a great idea—thanks for getting this started!

What a great idea!

I don’t know yet how we’ll spend Christmas... We originally had a lot planned with lots of people.
Even if we were to “stagger” it now, it would be absolutely unreasonable and stupid...
Whether I infect 30 people all at once or just one after another... yeah...

It’s nice that we’re safe online :)

That’s a really nice idea, Josefa. I’m in too, because it’s fun here in the forum. It’s like a big neighborhood, since I don’t have a friend here to chat with either.

I'll join in too

Best
wishes, Gabi

Are you all doing okay?

Thanks for asking, Josefa. :)

I’m now looking forward to the last award ceremony of the year here in this forum. Thanks to the monthly thread, I’ve finally finished my long-term UFO.

I’m planning to bake cookies and bread in the next few days.

The person I miss here is Sandra ... with her wonderful crocheted things for Anton.

I wish everyone who stops by here a lovely week.

Monika

Oh, I’ll definitely be joining in; it’s nice to be able to chat with each other here.
Our Christmas celebration won’t be extravagant either—on the one hand, that’s just not possible, and 2 family members are on duty, so it will be even a little quieter than in previous years.

Wishing you all a lovely week of Advent

I’ll join in.
We’ve been celebrating Christmas on a very small scale here for a few years now anyway.
Totally stress-free.

You don’t have to wait until Christmas to have fun together here. :-)

How are you all coping with this right now?

I’m not doing so well right now with all this nonsense. I don’t have any kids of my own, just one nephew (who is, of course, my favorite nephew :) . He just became a father, and it’s incredibly hard to get to know my grandnephew, little Carl, only through the digital world. Well, I don’t even want to imagine what it would be like if these options didn’t exist. We won’t be together for Christmas either, but you just have to try to keep looking optimistically toward the future.
If only EVERYONE would pull themselves together, then we’d get out of this mess faster and better.

We’ve canceled all family plans for Christmas and are staying home; my husband says this gives us a real chance to come through the pandemic unscathed. Because one thing is certain: after the holidays and then after New Year’s, the virus is going to hit us hard again, so we’re staying under the radar.
Unfortunately, there are still plenty of people who don’t take it seriously, and they’re condemning so many others to spending the holidays alone. It’s nice that there are forums like this one where we can share our thoughts.
I’ll miss all five of my grandchildren terribly this Christmas, but there are still more holidays ahead that we can celebrate together. We’ll video chat on Christmas Eve—at least that way we can see each other, even if we can’t hug each other.

I’m also having a very quiet Christmas with my partner.
I did away with presents and elaborate meals years ago.
I’m just sorry that Micha, my stepdaughter, can’t celebrate her 30th birthday.
Usually, her birthday is on December 25th until noon, and then it’s Christmas.

I’m glad my family obligations are over and I don’t have to go out every day anymore.
So I’ll be spending many hours in my craft room.

Aside from missing the “Winter Lights” at the Palmengarten (they’re canceled this year), I’m doing just fine.
