How does mosaic knitting work?

Mosaic knitting uses two colors. To do this, you knit two rows at a time, alternating between the two colors. The patterns are created by simply slipping certain stitches according to the pattern.

The advantage of this is that you only ever knit with one strand of yarn. This is in contrast to the jacquard pattern, where you work with two or more strands per row (which is more cumbersome, since you have to hold multiple strands at the same time and cross them over each other on the back).

I think mosaic knitting is great! Since you only knit with one color per row, it’s such a wonderfully relaxing way to create color patterns.
