I'm currently knitting a tube scarf...

I have a question... I'm currently knitting this one here...

The pink yarn is a provisional cast-on...
I've now knitted 4 of these modules and am supposed to join the whole thing with Kitchener stitch... Wouldn't it make more sense to wash and block the whole thing first? and only sew it together afterward? The edges,  ( top and bottom, which still have the pink yarn in the picture ) will still be worked with an I-cord bind off.
But I can only knit that on after drying and sewing it together...
Wash and block first, or finish everything first???
How would you do it?

Best, Stephanie

Hi Stephanie,
I’d sew it together first. That way, when you wash and block it, the seam will also be shaped into place.
It looks like quite a lot of work. It’s sure to turn out great.
Best wishes, Petra

Hey Petra....
The scarf isn’t actually that elaborate... For the first block, I used 3 foundation chains with 50/61/50 stitches.... Place a marker and then knit every row, knitting two together after the marker. On every row! That’s the decreasing, so it becomes rectangular... repeat until you have 25/11/25 stitches. Then knit across the 11 stitches, knitting them together with a side stitch at the end of each row... (the patterns are slip stitches) Module one, then for the second one, pick up stitches from the 50-stitch provisional cast-on, make two more foundation chains with 61/50 stitches, and then the next module....
I’m going to sew them together now / or do a 3-needle bind-off...
