Hi everyone,

I got patterns for making a gnome. Now I want to make it twice as big. What’s the best way to go about this...? Do you have any ideas or tips??

Best regards, Jule

Hi Jule....
I think the easiest way would be to use thicker yarn...
I don’t know the pattern, but most of the time people crochet with cotton, about 120 m/50 g....
If you use thicker yarn (which is also available in cotton), your gnome will be proportionally bigger....
Best wishes, Stephanie

Unfortunately, I only have the same yarn I used for the other gnome. It should really be the same yarn so it all looks consistent...

Oh.... That’s going to be tricky... I guess you’ll just have to experiment a bit...
And crochet more stitches/rows based on how it feels.

Hi Jule,
if you want to use the same yarn, why not try using double or triple strands and a correspondingly larger crochet hook? It doesn’t look good with every type of yarn, though—just give it a try with your yarn; maybe you’ll like the result.
Best wishes, Jana

Yes, that would be an idea… I’ll give it a try… Is there a trick for holding the yarn double or triple (from one XXL ball)?

Use two strands: one from the inside and one from the outside.

For three strands: if the ball weighs 50 grams, unwind 50 / 3 = 16 grams and cut it off. (Use a kitchen scale.)
