what is the difference between Bobbel and Cake?

Bobbel: a multi-strand yarn made of solid-colored individual strands that are gradually cut off and replaced with other colors using knots.

Cake: a twisted yarn that is dyed and wound onto a skein. I’d say it’s usually manufactured industrially.

@Meckerbecker thank you very much for the explanation. I already searched on Ecosia, but with "Cake" I wasn’t really looking for anything related to yarn. I had never heard this term before.

So it would be this type of yarn?

I think the prime example from the U.S. is “Caron Cakes.” If you search for them, you’ll definitely find pictures that, in my opinion, clearly show the difference between them and Bobbel.
